Summary

Following government endorsement of the recommendations of the Review of the Corporate Governance of Statutory Authorities and Office Holders (the Uhrig Review), the bill amends the

Australian Trade Commission Act 1985
to enable the transition of the Australian Trade Commission from a statutory authority under the
Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997
to a statutory agency which will be part of the Commonwealth and subject to the
Public Service Act 1999
and the
Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997
. Also makes consequential amendments to the
Export Market Development Grants Act 1997
,
Commonwealth Borrowing Levy Act 1987
,
Export Finance and Insurance Corporation Act 1991
and
Public Service Act 1999
.
